National Minority Mental Health Month

This Month, Sunlight Village Encourages everyone to take steps toward improving mental health in BIPOC communities. Fear of judgment, cultural beliefs, generational differences, and lack of access to resources often prevent people of color from addressing struggles openly and seeking the help they need. By breaking the silence and having open and honest conversations about mental health, we can overcome these barriers.

Bebe Moore Campbell was a renowned journalist, teacher, author, and mental health advocate. She dedicated her life to shedding light on the unique challenges faced by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in accessing mental health care. Her advocacy and impactful writing have left a lasting legacy, inspiring the creation of National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, which promotes mental health awareness and support for BIPOC communities.

MOXIE BY NATURE

Lindsay Pitstick, founder of Moxie by Nature, recently led our team in an interactive and insightful workshop. Before the workshop, each team member completed Gallup’s Clifton Strengths Assessment. This preparation allowed us to dive deeply into our individual strengths and explore how they contribute to our team's success.

HEALTHY FAMILY MARKET

Message From The Executive Director

Hello Sunlight Village Community!

Thank you all for your time and attention. I want to speak out amongst all the other conversations regarding our youth and violence. I am hearing a lot regarding how bad our youth are but with our conversations with the youth, they feel they are not a part of the community, they want positive change, they want positive leaders...people to look up to, positive things to do, no violence, equality and a future. They want to HOPE! We at Sunlight Village are dedicated to making sure we offer programs, services, opportunities and leadership that allow our youth to hope, again! Children don't ask to be born; they get the hand that was dealt them. So, as families and community members we owe it to our youth to work collectively to level the playing field for our youth through not only conversation but ACTION!

Contact Sunlight Village if you are interested in becoming a community partner, volunteer and/or advocate for our youth.

Thanks & Blessings

Robbie Brandon, Founder & CEO
